Complication.
I used to ask people,
" If Tarzan and monkey fell in love with Jane at the same time, who should Jane choose? "
That was a stupid question, every one will eventually said Tarzan.
But what if Jane choose monkey?
Nobody will agree if Jane choose monkey, right.
Did anyone really asked what Jane really need for?

its her choice, to love whoever she wants, why care bout others?
because she should not love phantom, yet she fell in love with him
